Low Cost The cost of DTI indicating bolts is a fraction of that of strain-gaged bolts or other products performing an equivalent function. Additional costly instruments such as strain-gage bridges or readouts are not required. High Accuracy The only non-contact direct-tension-indicating fastener system capable of accuracies within 2% of fastener minimum strength – comparable to the expected accuracy attainable with expensive strain-gage instrumented bolts. Reliable/Reusable The tension indication of SmartBolts® remains reliable and reproduction through countless cycles of tightening and loosening. The process is completely reversible and there are no moving parts to wear out. A life expectancy of 20+ years is forecast due to extensive use of inert materials and components. Speeds Inspection At any later time during maintenance or inspection schedules, the proper tension may be verified without contact or loosening of fasteners or disturbing safety wires. In many cases, off-design conditions can be observed in moving equipment, eliminating costly shutdown for inspections.
