Another Successful Manufacturing Day

Thanks to all our visitors who helped make this year’s Manufacturing Day another success! We had a great time showing our visitors our lean manufacturing process and sharing sneak previews of upcoming SmartBolts technology. Manufacturing in Maryland is strong and getting stronger.

We had a great turnout this year and were pleased to host aspiring engineers from local universities and high schools, representatives from the National Association of Manufacturing, the Deputy Director of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing at the U.S. Department of Commerce, visitors from the National Institute of Science and Technology, other curious members of our local community, and even the inventor of SmartBolts made an appearance! What a crowd!

Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Here are some photos from our tours that we’d like to share:

CNC lathe MFG Day

We explained the CNC lathe programming process and how we transform bolts into SmartBolts.

Some of our visitors got a chance to manipulate one of the lathes (after receiving proper instructions!).

Bolts were being transformed into SmartBolts during the tours.

Here we are demonstrating our lean manufacturing process during the first tour of the day.

Explaining the torque-tension relationship to future engineers.

We were showing off some of our newest technology during the Manufacturing Day tours.

A rare public viewing of upcoming SmartBolts technology from the R&D department.

We showed finished SmartBolts that will be used in a mining application.

Visitors got a chance to see our wide range of manufacturing capabilities.

We look forward to hosting another Manufacturing Day event next year. Hope to see you there!
